Hines Ward wasn't a freak of nature size wise nor athletically but still managed to become one of the greatest WRs of all time. He announced his retirement this week meaning he'll finish his career having only played for the Steelers. Hines Ward played the WR position like it was truly meant to be played and was more than just a skill player he was a true football player. In his prime Ward was a true number 1 WR that could do it all. He was a terrific route runner and could run any route, a great possession WR that could go across the middle, he had great hands, and a great run blocker as he is one of the most physical WRs of all time. Hines Ward's numbers say hall of fame as well. His career stats are 1,000 receptions, 12,083 yards, and 85 TDs. Hines Ward was also a key component to two super bowl runs in Pittsburgh which only enhances his legacy further. With Chris Carter not getting in on his 1st try Ward most likely won't be 1st ballot either but he will most certainly have a bust in Canton one day in the near future.
